god, your country, and the dollar bill
it’s friday and the week is done
and you deserve to have some fun
turn on the television, have a beer
the war on terror’s going great
the media stokes up your hate
and tells you bush will save us all—don’t fear
the government’s protecting you
and every word bush says is true
and even god, they say, is on our side
we’re right, they’re wrong, we’re rich and strong
we’ll win this fight before too long
so show your badge of patriotic pride
the terrorists and taliban
and people of afghanistan
are guilty and we all are innocent
it’s simple stuff, it’s black and white
this business of who’s wrong or right
don’t complicate, it’s shoot and cut and print
the president is hard at work
to save us from that hussein jerk
and good thing too because he has the bomb
and chemicals and bio stuff
but we’ll show him he’s not so tough—
and no, this war is not like Vietnam
of course we hate the terrorists
but even worse are pacifists
they whine and cry that war is not the way
why don’t they leave? I’ve heard it asked
move someplace else? move to iraq?
don’t say bad things about the usa
don’t let your morals interfere
just pour yourself another beer
those jealous people hate us all and they
deserve the punishment we give
so they will die and we will live
those sons a’bitchin’ terrorists will pay
the president is always right
and fighting evil’s a good fight
those afghans should be grateful—we’ve been kind
and generous in this short war
besides your team won eight to four
and that new sitcom’s coming on at nine
if, god forbid, you start to think
another show, another drink
will help to chase away imagined cries
just let your hate drown out the screams
you might imagine in your dreams
if you could ride the bombs your money buys
